Not enough time to scrapbook in the summer! I'm just going to post the pictures of my little marathon adventure & write down my thoughts while they are still fresh in my mind. Marathon pictures, I've decided, aren't that exciting though b/c they are just a bunch of pictures of the same thing! But I'll try to tell the story along the way -
That little dot under the San Francisco Marathon sign is me - day before the race.
Bay Bridge behind us - the weather & scenery were absolutely beautiful.@ the race expo - my sister Sara made a sign to cheer me on.
Sara dropping me off at the start line.
Around mile 4.5, we ran the steepest, longest hill. Because my legs weren't tired yet, it wasn't bad at all which I thought meant I had the hills made. I didn't realize that by mile 20 - after my legs were tired, even the shortest, slightest incline would be so crazy difficult! From mile 5-10, we ran across the Golden Gate Bridge & back! It was crowded & loud b/c cars were still driving on it... I didn't like it as much as I thought I would but it was neat nonetheless.

From mile 10-13, we had to run hill after hill after hill. My legs were burning by the time I reached Sara for the first time at the half way point... I was very excited to see her!
My cheering squad - people Sara met along the way.
Around mile 19 - in the BEAUTIFUL Golden Gate Park... my favorite part of the run :)
I'm almost done! I look a little hunchbacked, but I'm still smiling :) LOL
Running across the finish line! 26.2 miles!
Caught - eating TONS of food after the race... I was starving!
Dinner later that night with Sara. What an awesome sister get-a-way!! Thanks for everything Sara! It definitely wouldn't have been as fun without you there! So again, it was an awesome experience! I didn't know what to expect & I had so many physical bumps the week before the race... I was worried up until race day that I might not finish. My knee didn't bother me one time though & it was just a lot of fun. I thought that mentally, running a marathon would be more difficult than say - having a baby without an epidural (I did that twice - not by choice). But honestly, running a marathon was mentally so so so much easier than having those babies without an epidural. (It helped that I trained in 90 degree weather & then ran the race in the 50's. ) Physically, it was definitely the most challenging thing I have ever done in my life but I was able to stay positive and excited the entire race mentally. I never hit "the wall" that you always hear about.
Anyway - that's enough about my marathon! I hope I've inspired all of you to run one! Because I think you should:) Wink wink... I will definitely do it again.
