1st Grade - School Talent Show
I finally sat down and figured out my "new" video camera! I was tempted to post several videos from the past year... but I'm limiting it to just one per child. I'll be better about posting videos now b/c I know how to do it. Here is Colby performing his Star Wars song at the school talent show last year.
Taylor's Dance Recital
I didn't get a great view of Taylor in her ballet performance, so I want to just post her tap dance.
Is that you, Ariel??
One of Halle's talents has been memorizing songs. When she was just barely 2, she could sing 10 of the Article of Faith songs! Unfortunately, I didn't catch that on video when it is was so unbelievable! Here, she is singing from The Little Mermaid on our way to the beach this summer. Sorry I posted the entire thing, but when she says "reprimand their daughters" it is too cute! If anything, fast forward to that part:)
Avalyn Smiles
Turn your volume down on this one if you don't want to hear my goofy encouragements for a smile from Avalyn!

Rules at Our House
Taylor created these rules after school today while I was helping Colby with a project. I'm not sure what made her think to do this, but they're good rules, so it is now hanging on our refrigerator. She is really trying to learn how to read and spell, so I'm going to write them just as they appear on the paper. How adorable is my daughter;)
Rules at our house.
No hitting.
No seyeg shutup. (saying shut-up)
No keik. (kicking)

The Shark That Ate Patrick
Colby wrote a book today and I told him I would publish it on my blog. He got very excited about his story. He asked if I would make any changes that needed to be made so that he could get it published. He wanted to donate a copy to his school's library and then sell the rest to the entire world. Oh, and he asked Jared how much it would cost to get a movie made from it. Jared said it would be too expensive, so he came up with the idea to send it to the Spongebob TV show and see if they would use the story for one of their episodes on TV. How adorable is my son?? So, very few edits were made to the story below. Although his spelling was actually very good, I did correct all of his spelling except for one place, because I thought it was so cute. I loved all of his quotations, his use of commas, his explanations in parentheses, and his dedication at the beginning to his family. Great job Colby! It is an excellent story!!!
THE SHARK THAT ATE PATRICK
by Colby Wright, Age 7
to the family I love most, the Wrights...
Chapter One - Patrick's Shark
One day when Spongebob was at work, Patrick came up and said, "Let's go to the fishy place." "What?" said Spongeob? "Let's go to the fishy place." "Oh," he said, "but what about work?" "Big deal. Besides, it's just a break," said Patrick. "Ok," said Spongebob. So they started for the fishing palace (fishy place). Then once they got there, Spongebob trips on a rock. Patrick falls in the pool of sharks (that was part of the fishing palace). Poor Patrick was eaten.
Chapter Two - Work
Early the next day, Spongebob was so sad he could barely say a word. He sadly walked to work. Once he got inside, he stupidly flipped pattys on Squidward's face. "Ha! Patrick's dead," said Squidward. "Aw, who's the little baby?" Work was bad.
Chapter Three - The Mouth
After a horrible day at work, he went to sleep. He had terrible dreams about Patrick so he went to the fishing palace and went to the shark that had ate Patrick and jumped in. Luckily, it was asleep. Spongebob tried to find Patrick, but it was too dark. Soon he saw a light and sher anofe (mom: aka, sure enough), there was Patrick.
Chapter Four - Escape!
They stayed and rest for a while then they had breakfast (coral). Then they started pushing on the mouth quickly but not quietly. Finally it opened. The shark woke up. He was mad!! They quickly swam away but the shark followed!! Patrick said, "Do what you were born to do." "Dance??" asked Spongebob. "No! Swim with the spin," said Patrick. "Okay. Whirlpool!!" And he did a spin (holding Patrick). He quickly swam up and got out with Patrick. Spongebob never knew but he was followed!! Thousands of people were cheering for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was flattered and Patrick learned a lesson never to play with or near sharks. So they had a party to celebrate (but not Squidward or Plankton). Plankton was the bad guy!! He was on his way. Luckily he got lost in the crowd. If Spongebob hadn't saved Patrick, he would never of seen him again.
