The Surprise!

My dad turned 60 this week... and for his birthday, we were somehow able to get almost all of his kids down for the weekend. We have 9 out of the 10 of his kids/step-kids here! Everyone flew in at different times, but the last crew got to dad's around 10pm - so we all met at dad's house, rang the doorbell, and sang "Happy Birthday". Rob brought his strange instrument (I can't remember what it's called) to accompany our oh so beautiful voices, but it wasn't working as we rang the doorbell... in case you are trying to figure out what is going on with Rob at the beginning of the video. I promised those that couldn't be here that I would post video of the surprise on my blog as soon as I could... so here you go! He really had no idea :) Tomorrow we have more fun stuff planned and so I will be posting more soon, I'm sure.

50th Day of School

I just received a note less than a week ago that the kids were encouraged to dress in 1950s attire to celebrate the 50th day of school today. Taylor gets upset if she doesn't get to do things like this when they are asked, so I was grateful when my friend posted instructions on her blog just this weekend on how to make a poodle skirt! And, I was grateful to my step-mom who helped me make it (well, ok... she made it). Spending only $10 on materials & less than an hour and a half... we ended up with a pretty adorable little skirt for Tay!
